James Jenkins

James Jenkins (founder of SuccessCycling) started road cycling at the age of 11 (1992). His potential was recognised early on by The Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club in North Worcestershire and three years later he represented English Schools Cycling at an International Event held in Holland.

The following year (1996) saw James compete and win 1st place at the West Midlands under 16 Circuit Race Championship, the English Schools Cycling National Time Trial Championship and represented English Schools Cycling for the second year running at a week-long event in Holland. He also won 1st place at the English Schools National Best All Rounder Competition.
James went on to win more national road races for the under 19’s and was presented ‘Junior Sports Personality of the Year’ for the Wyre Forest District.

Regarded as a strong mountain climber and solid time trialist, James moved to Europe to further his career and in 1998 at the age of 17 he spent the summer living and racing in France securing several top ten places. James was soon spotted and selected to represent Great Britain for a World Cup Race in Holland where he rode alongside the 2012 Tour De France champion Sir Bradley Wiggins.
James was now winning many road and circuit races and became the ‘Leading Junior’ at National Youth Week. He secured 1st place, King of the Mountains, during the Junior Tour of Wales and spent a second season living and racing in France.

1999 saw James’ career excelling as he raced in France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Austria for Team Great Britain. He finished 4th overall in the Junior British National Road Race Championships where pro cyclist Steve Cummings secured 1st place.
James was picked for Team GB to ride the Junior World Road Race Championships in Verona, Italy.

Upon returning to the UK in 2000, having hit a run of bad luck and several injuries his cycling career ended however, his passion for road cycling is as strong as ever 12 years on.

James launched Success Cycling for training enthusiasts and athlete’s of all level’s who want to improve their efficiency, strengthen their technique, improve their times and overall; ride faster. He has thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of travelling throughout Europe, riding in the tyre tracks of the Pros and filming the Classics and famous climbs to bring a virtual simulation experience into people’s homes, relieving the boredom of the turbo.
